The PS5 version of The Horizon Forbidden West game’s “complete edition” will also be released that month.
Sony plans to release Horizon: Forbidden West for PC in the first quarter of 2024 with the help of Nixxes Software, an in-house port developer that was bought by Sony in 2021. It’s the newest PlayStation PC port, following the July release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Sony also just revealed that the “complete edition” of Horizon: Forbidden West would launch alongside the PS5 on October 5th, so the two announcements are related. The base game, the Burning Shores add-on, plus extras like a digital art book and music, are all part of this special edition. The PC release can be purchased from Steam or the Epic Games Store.
Beginning six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West has an equally magnificent environment full of frozen mountains and rainforest wetlands.
Games like Horizon: Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are expanding Sony’s gaming reach beyond just PS4 and PS5 consoles, and the company plans to release half of its games on PC and mobile by 2025. References to a PlayStation PC launcher were found in last year’s Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC, leading to speculation that Sony is planning to release such a product. Sony’s use of the PlayStation PC brand began in 2021, not long after the company had purchased Nixxes.

In February 2022, when the main game’s Deluxe Edition first came out, it already included most of the supplemental materials, including the digital soundtrack and artbook, photo mode bonuses, and in-game clothes for Aloy.

Horizon Zero Dawn, the first game in the series, was launched in 2017, and a definitive edition was released near the end of 2017. After its initial release on the PS4, PC players had to wait over 3.5 years for Zero Dawn to arrive finally.
The Horizon Forbidden Wes: Forbidden West’s full PC release comes just a few months after the PS5 version and two years after the PS4 and PS5 versions were initially available.
Sony’s current approach of bringing PlayStation exclusives to PC and reducing the wait period for PC users is continued with the release of Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition.
Previous PlayStation games ported to PC have been met with “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam, such as 2016’s God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and Horizon Zero Dawn. The Last of Us Part I, however, launched with texture quality issues and bugs on PC and is still shown as having “mixed” reviews on Steam.
The PS5 version of Horizon: Forbidden West: Complete Edition will launch on October 6, 2023, for $59.99. The PC version will launch in early 2024 via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
